Removal and disposal of the old carpet and pad. Included, not an add-on.
Subfloor and tack strip inspection. We check for squeaks, loose boards, moisture and damaged tack strips before the new carpet goes down — the one moment in fifteen years when the subfloor is accessible.
New padding, specified to the room. Density and thickness matched to the carpet and the traffic. Moisture-barrier pad where pets, kids or spills are a factor.
Power-stretched installation. We use a power stretcher, not a knee kicker, on every installation. This is the single biggest determinant of whether a carpet ripples later.
Furniture moving and full cleanup. Standard furniture moved and replaced, offcuts and packaging removed, floor vacuumed before we leave.
Final walkthrough. Seams, edges, transitions and stair wraps checked with you before we close out.

Stairs are the most demanding carpet work in a house and where installation quality shows most clearly. Waterfall versus cap-and-band wrapping changes the look considerably; cap-and-band is more labor but gives a tailored, upholstered edge. Stairs are quoted per tread rather than by area because of the labor involved.
